THE JACK PETCHEY THEATRE CHALLENGE
The ‘Theatre Challenge’ is designed to offer the opportunity to approximately 200 young people aged 14 to 25 from the London area to experience the pressure and excitement of performing on London’s West End Stage. Auditions will be held in 4 London locations in Mid September to select the participants. There will be 8 groups of approximately 25 performers. Through October and November each group will rehearse within 1 of 8 different London Boroughs to prepare at least 2 musical theatre pieces. The groups will be assigned professional and experienced Directors, Choreographers and Musical Directors to help them prepare. Each group will rehearse for 2 evenings per week and one full day at the weekend. In mid November, all 8 groups will be brought together in a central location to continue final rehearsals for their show. The culmination of the event will be on Sunday November 23rd at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End, home of Phantom of the Opera, where participants will perform to an audience of approximately 1000 people.
Rehearsals will take place within the following London Boroughs:
Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Hillingdon, Harrow, Bromley, Bexley, Sutton and Richmond
